        Not really.

  • Is that the whole purpose? Unless you really hate the website I don’t see what you get out of it and the point of it seems more a waste of money.

    • I really hate the website (not this one, I was just using it as an example), and I have lots of money

Yeah, could you give us some specific examples? That's really petty, but also pretty funny if it's true.

        • It's actually not true yet, I was kinda hypothetically asking. Glad you got the humor, I thought it would be pretty funny too.

I assume some of the really small sites could be bought out for less than 300$. The site I had in mind is extremely minute, although it has kind of a "cult following" (so I can say with almost 100% certainty that no one here has ever heard of it, and I'm not going to mention it because well, I really hate the website).

I actually did consider buying IIN awhile back for similar reasons, but nah.
And yes, I am very petty. I had an entire wikia site taken down and banned, because people were using it to talk shit about me and I wanted revenge. It was funny to me once the creators found out it was gone.

It's an interesting prospect though, isn't it? There's several websites I would probably be better off without, including this one. Facebook, would definitely be one to shut down. Even if someone could buy that one out, people would just replace it with something similar. It's become ingrained in our culture.

            • Yeah! I remember awhile back when everyone was freaking about the supposed "internet shutdown" or whatever it was, I could not have cared less, and honestly thought it would have been hilarious to see all these internet addicted keyboard warriors having to face their pathetic reality. And I myself have been "addicted" to the internet for about 15 years now. I would not miss it. Unfortunately, it seems like that was a lot of sensationalist BS. If I was rich as hell it would be fun to just shut down random websites because I didn't like the people on it, and wanted to piss them off as revenge. And no one could do anything about it other than start over.

What is the name of the website you hate?

    What a waste.

I'd change them all into Rick Rolls or the Ghost Car meme.

I love me some Rick Astley, and that sweet, sweet blue eyed soul music he sings!

Why not buy mom 'n pop shops, tell them you love their little store and you'll keep just the way it is, then tear it down and leave all the crap that was inside on the sidewalk.

I could understand if it was a neo nazi website or something. But if you do buy it then you'll only be making the owners really rich, so it's not like they'll care anyway.

I personally think that such an endeavor would be an obscene waste of money. I am curious as to what site it is that you are referring. What do you hate so much about the site?

If I could afford to do what you are contemplating I would instead spend the money on charitable ventures in which I deeply believe. The grass always greener on the side that you water.

So then if I have enough money I can start my own non-profit.
