Is it normal to believe in outter beings?

Oded here, So like as the title says, Outter Beings, I am referring to life beyond this Earth. I just believe that out of all the galaxies out there, there's gotta be other societies out there. Their own city infrastructure built upon things they can derive from their own planet like we did by discovering oil and discovering different metals and such. Maybe humans maybe like how we picture aliens, but that's my curiousity afterall. Is this a normal belief?

    Of course there are other intelligent beings in the universe. How absolutely egocentric does one have to be to think the horrid little creatures (humans) that inhabit this planet are the only intelligent species in the universe? The accident of nature that created us statistically has to have happened otherwheres many, many times over.

            Fair enough.
            Though Mulder I am not. I do not profess to have had my sister abducted, nor have I seen little green men wandering around the aft deck (possibly the foredeck, but I was really drunk that night, lol).
            In all my years at sea, with an unobstructed view of the heavens from horizon to horizon (which few dirt dwellers could even imagine) I have seen nothing that I could attribute to unnatural causes. Yet, I do believe. Go figure.

    Hey Oded. I do believe there are other living species out there. We can't be that special to be the only ones.

    By the way I heard on Discovery News that researchers have found that there are some celestial bodies (some red stars) that produce a radiation so powerful that makes unable life as we know it in other planets.. And there are many of the out in space so it makes difficult to precise if we will ever get contact with other intelligent species.
