  • A sociopath is the result of their environment, so they become one. A psychopath is a phenomenon, so they are born one.

    • Not exactly;
      "Recently, there has been more research on the brain indicating that psychopathy (more commonly known as sociopathy) may be biologically based" Oops.

      • And someone is thumbing ME down because someone else hasn't a clue what she's talking about?
        In case you can't decipher what I wrote, "psychopathy (more commonly known as sociopathy"); THEY ARE THE SAME fucking THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • "Today, these two terms are not really well-defined in the psychology research literature."

          "The common features of a psychopath and sociopath lie in their shared diagnosis — antisocial personality disorder."

          "Psychology researchers generally believe that psychopaths tends to be born — that it’s a genetic predisposition — while sociopaths tend to be made by their environment."

          Excuse me, but I'd like to say: after years of involvement with them academically, I do know what I am talking about.

          This is but one link to correct you but there are much more both online and offline, such as in books, that can further explain their differences.

          Please do not take this the emotional way.

          • I am so happy that you know enough to unequivocally state that the dictionary definition is wrong and you are right. Sorry, I'll take the dictionary definition over your word.
