1) As a renter you have legal rights that your landlord has to obey
2) If your landlord is the kind of person who would just burst in on you ... why are you renting from him in the first place?
Where I live... our landlady hasn't been inside our apartment since my BF moved in. The maintenance man comes in but only when we put in for trouble calls. And twice a year to change out the air filter.
(and for the air filter, they post exactly what dates he'll be entering the apartments over a week in advance)
