Is it normal to be scared of the vaccum cleaner?

I've been afraid of vaccum cleaners for such a long time. Not using one, but my brother constantly puts it towards me whenever he is using it. Every time, I nearly piss my pants. I sincerely don't know why I am this afraid of vaccum cleaners pointed at me. Make fun of me all you want, I'll admit, this is kinda funny. I think It's because my grandma would always put the litle nozzle up to my feet (I absolutely hate feet so much) and I think it scarred me.

My cat has this problem as well. Do you run and hide in the closet as well?

    • I usually jump on the nearest elevated surface. I cant hide in the closet, because i have not yet come out.

I did when I was younger, the same with hand drying machines and fans to a degree. But I know that lots of other people are this way, they just outgrow it.

What are you, a cat? Are you afraid it's going to suck you up?

    • My toes, yeah. Humanity is better off without toes anyway, though. That, and the deafening g note it manages to hit like a coyote in heat. Melts my eardrums every time i hear that horrible noise, the same reaction if i had my em burst with 5 100 watt amps and 2 20-inch subwoofers at all times. Not to mention the crackling that sounds like dipping an arthritic hand into boiling vegetable oil. I legit thought this was normal until it was pointed out to me.

You sound like my first wife (divorced) she was terrified of the vacuum cleaned, dusters, polish, washing machine, cooker, kitchen sink. We were only married a year but I divorced 4 stone more than I married.
Here's an idea, you do the bloody cleaning instead of bellyaching!

    • I still do the cleaning, and still use a vacuum, as I said in my post, it's only when my brother pushes it towards me. In fact, I usually enjoy doing dishes and dusting because they make nice noises and touches, and I can be alone with my imagination. And when I say scared, i mean like, stomach-hurting adrenaline-pumping scared. Sorry about what happened with ya 1st wife, it sucks to get divorced multiple times. Sorry if you meant this as a joke, i have a hard time understanding jokes that need tonal cues put into them. Thank you for the feedback!

No joking, I've been married 3 times, 1st was a waste of space, the 2nd cheated while I was working abroad and Nee, my third wife died in 1997, she had Lupus when we married.
