  • Whenever I think of Britain, the first thing that comes to mind are cucumber sandwiches. I don't know why learning about the existence of those struck me as so odd

    • Are cucumber sandwiches only a british thing? It makes sense but I never thought about it before today lol. I’ve only ever met one person who eats cucumber sandwiches though, most people who include cucumber have cucumber and ham.

      • I've only ever heard of cucumber sandwiches in the context of British culture, but there are probably other places where people eat them. And I know what you mean about never having thought of it before. There's a weird insistence from neighboring states that my region is obsessed with green Jell-o. I've eaten it maybe 3 times in my entire life and have literally never seen it served at potlucks or parties. When I tell people this, they think I'm the one who doesn't know what I'm talking about. I mean, I only have 20+ years living in this area, but please, by all means tell me what it's like to live here

        • I'm Swedish, cucumber sandwiches are certainly a thing here too, usually combined with cheese, and on knäckebröd.
