Is it normal to be sad after waking up to a romantic dream?

On multiple occassions I've had a dream where I've fallen in love with a girl, then to abruptly wake up and finding myself wanting to go back to the dream. Realizing I can't, I get depressed, knowing I won't meet that fictional person again. That happened to me today and I'm still kinda sad about it 7 hours later.

I would say that's pretty normal. Your mind crafted an ideal scenario and it turned out to be an illusion. It would make sense to feel disappointed and melancholy for a while. I'm sure the feeling will pass over time.

  • Do you get out of bed and fall onto your knees screaming “WHHHHHYYYYYYYY??!!!!” at the ceiling?

  • I narrowly voted not normal, but I think that after 7 hours you should have been over it.
