Is it normal to be really really mad that 4chan got blocked in australia?

People on 4chan were posting links to the Christchurch shooting incident. So... they blocked it. They just blocked 4chan. Whenever you try to get on you're immidetly met with a "server not found" error or "page temporarily unavailable". To me it almost seems like "well since one you did something wrong, no one's allowed to play"

Sure you can use a VPN but that doesn't allow you to post or comment (4chan blocks all posts coming from VPN IP addresses), you can only really watch what's going on, not involve yourself.

I loved going on 4chan for posting and downloading epic memes. But now I can't

Any fanatical killing is bad, but they should also mention the 65 Christians killed in Nigeria by Muslims during the same week. But that is not newsworthy.

Really? I didn't know that but it is Nigeria so I'm not surprised.(was it in the northern half which is the Islamic half if so I'm really not suprised?)

It is not newsworthy because Black Africans kill each other all the time. People of African descent on other continents are not as homicidal and violent.

Only because they are outnumbered on other continents.

It's not that simple it's more of a cultural thing I personally think that those outside of Africa of African decent tends to have better education then those in Africa even the more ghetto people aren't as bad as most Africans.

Have you seen Chicago and Detroit?! Theres a murder a day average. Most of its gang on gang. African americans only make up 13% of the population yet commit 50% of the violent offenses. It's all to do with the culture not the race though.

Unfortunately, there are racial influences. When African-Americans are isolated in ghettos, their culture starts changing back to that violent ego-driven African shit. You have got to keep these black kids in two parent working class families, where Mom and Dad teach them to count and sound out the alphabet as pre-schoolers. Otherwise, things turn into a sociological mess.

Not every kid in the ghetto fits this trope I should know because I'm one of them my parents weren't together but I was lucky that my father wanted to be there for me, my mother kinda fits the trope as well as most of her family but even then not all of them are bad even the bad ones have their reasons for being shitheads. But your not completely wrong just not completely right.

I have to agree with you on this one much of African history is very complicated with various different tribes and ethnic groups trying to have the advantage over the other, if you thought black and white nationalists hated each Africa is a whole different story a lot of conflicts are ancient and I bet half of the groups fighting don't even know why they do it anymore they just do it. The reason why people of African decent outside of Africa are less violent is simple lack of tribal connections especially in the case of North America, on one hand it sucks that most black Americans don't know their heritage but on the other hand I think that it has its benefits even though black Americans have issues as a whole they see each as one group rather then hundreds otherwise we would be seeing more issues. I say this as a person of African decent and as a person whole has looked into the subject of African history.

I don't go on 4chan, but yeah it always sucks when a small amount of people ruin it for everyone else.

    * This isn't directed at anyone in the thread.*

The chans have tens of thousands of active users and hundreds of thousands of other readers. It is insanity to take the posts of a few dozen psychos (and likely agents provocateurs) as representative of this huge group of people.

The reason people siding with the killer aren't banned is simple. 4chan has a blanket policy of allowing all opinion, full stop, no exceptions so long as it doesn't violate the law. Direct incitement violates the law and is removed when it is reported. Even low key raid posts advocating telephone harassment and unwanted pizza deliveries are not allowed.

And the reason the rest of us don't condemn these posters is that nobody needs to be told that duh, murder is wrong, and people who aren't allowed to post their views anywhere else DO NOT need to be driven into total isolation. That's a really fucking bad idea. Of course, you all are welcome to disagree and can post your disapproval in any 4chan thread any time you want. The assertion by many that we should have condemned these posts, when the people complaining could just as easily have come in and done it themselves, is absurd. The imageboards are for everybody who wants to participate. They are NOT for people who can't be bothered to participate, and it's not our job to say what they would like to say.

Thank you for explaining 4chan properly. I think a lot of people who have never even used it just hear scare stories from the media and make ill-informed judgements and then decide it shouldn't be allowed.

Kind of like how the "dark web" has become a boogy-man in the media. Clearly anyone who has ever used it, or even understands what it is, wouldn't give those type of stories the time of day. They don't even make sense.

So you think it's ok to give the killer more publicity by showing and re-showing his own video of the massacre in graphic detail?

I find it interesting that you refer to this as being merely links to the Christchurch "incident" - incident? This was terrorism in which 50 unarmed people in a mosque were murdered: that's a bit more than an "incident".

Lady, let's be honest, worst things can happen to a group of random civilians. Its interesting that they filmed it though, I also took some liberty to read his manafesto (which is banned in Australia, Go America) This guy was trying to accelerate a political civil war in the western countries, he stated particular interests that would perk the media and cause them to not shut up about it (pewdiepie, Trump etc)
Why cant people realize no one can stop someone from killing someone else by taking away some tools when others exist. You know how easy it is to create a pipe bomb? Or just drive your truck into a side walk.

I'm not saying it's ok. It's just that I actually use the site for... well... not that.

I genuinely use the site to talk to people and looking at funny pictures. And I'm mad because people had to go and ruin it for everyone

    Government censorship. Pure and simple.
Instead of watching an event and making your own decisions, the government controls the story and you get their version.

Are you sure that you haven't been banned or something? I am in Australia and can get on 4chan as normal, as can my husband.
