Is it normal to be put off when someone of high school age posts or replies?

I quickly skip a question when it becomes clear a teen wrote it. All the questions they ask, feel childish to me and Im over them. Or when they try to give advice based on /that one time in band camp../ I wish there was a teen section cos some of the questions are fun and silly, but what teens they really bring to the table? Yes, they can be mature, but life experience is priceless.

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • I usually try harder to give a good answer. I'd certainly have appreciated that when I was a teenager. Life was hard enough as it was.

  • I am pretty sure this was written by a teenager.

  • There's really no definite way to tell unless they give you their grade or age.

A lot of people here like to think that adults are somehow incapable of idiocy, ignorance and immaturity.

Besides, I don't care which age they are, curiosity is curiosity and it's ultimately what brought most of us here.

  • I do not care what the question is long as the first like is "hi im 12" or something like that.

  • I'm 18, but I feel like that as well. I think it's just ageism, that I assume because someone is younger than me they aren't mature/don't have anything to tell me that I don't know. There are plenty of immature older people as well.

  • There will likely always be teenagers here, so you'd do good to not let it bother you so much.
