Is it normal to be much more comfortable around the opposite sex?

I'm a girl in my mid 20's and have noticed that I've been much more comfortable around guys than girls for years, probably since I was a pre-teen or teenager. I still get along with and like other girls too, but I feel much more tense around them.

I also tend to be less comfortable around people in my age range than older people, and am comfortable with both men and women who are middle aged or older, for some reason.

I was bullied a lot as an adolescent mostly by girls I went to school with, so I'm not sure of that has anything to do with it. I have a few female friends I'm close with, but I tend to be able to really relax around guys and click with their personalities better.

I feel for you, lots of adolescent girls, and adolescents in general can be mindnumbingly stupid. The only thing worse dealing with adolescent bullshit is dealing with adults who still act like that.

    Bitches be triflin'.

    • So true! I have been really disappointed to find that a lot of people my age still act exactly the same as they did 10 years ago and it's hard to find people that are over the typical high school behavior by now. Socializing with them is just talking to someone who only brags about themselves all the time and sees everything as a competition.

    • There's nothing sexual about it. In fact, I have pretty much zero sex drive or interest in a romantic relationship at all. I'm talking about friends.
