Is it normal to be in love with a girl who's in love with my best mate?

I've known my best friend for years, and we've always been pretty cool, going places, doing things, just being mates. We've always been open about everything, and have always told each other what's been up. But these past couple months, I've had a chance to talk a lot to this girl we've both known for about a year (we both met her the same day, actually). I've grown to love her, love spending time with her, and love every conversation that we've had.

Recently though, she confided in me that she's really grown to like my mate, and that she wishes he'd ask her on a date or something. I tried to act understanding, and I expressed my condolences towards her predicament, while I was internally dying.

So, is this normal to still be in love, and not having said a word to either, even though a month has passed?

    Is it normal? This is basically the plot of countless romantic comedies. Are you a fictional character, by any chance?

    If you actually wanted advice on what to do, that's a whole new conversation. That I'd have no problem having. But in terms of it being normal... the only way it could be any more normal is if you end up having to chase her to the airport.

    Totally normal. Takes a lot of courage to tell someone you love them and even more when they love someone else.

    I hate situations like that.. Maybe you should tell her. Unless she is actually with your friend now.
    It's tough to be denied without them even knowing you wanted them. If you come clean, maybe she'll tell you how she feels about you. Whether good or bad.
