Is it normal to be exhausted by talking?

Is it normal that I barely have the energy to talk to people? It messes up my relationships at work (I'm a waitress) and with friends because I find it irritating to have to speak. I have a soft voice so this might contribute to it. I have a little social anxiety so sometimes its hard for me to keep up a conversation with people.

Is It Normal?

  • When I worked in radio a very long time ago I used to sometimes feel like I didn't want to talk or had nothing to say after my shift on ocassion.

I've also worked as in customer service/technical support, and that's a hell of a lot of talking, and exhaustive repeating yourself to angry, frustrated customers who don't listen. Sometimes the stupid people scream on the phone, and that hurts your ears. At least when I was in broadcasting I could take pride in my work and feel that I was doing something important. In customer service I did get some satisfaction from my work, but the shitty people make it unpleasant.

Anyway, yes I think it's normal to get tired of talking.
