Is it normal to be disturbed by life getting more and more complicated?

Life gradually seems to be getting more and more complicated. We now have more possibilities than ever, which may seem like a positive thing in itself, but I fear it's only a matter of time before it all spins out of control.

I wonder if all the "progress" humanity has made during its existence (and is continuing to make), really is progress. Don't get me wrong, the development of, say, antibiotics, was absolutely great, but can the same be said of ALL inventions? Did nuclear weapons, for example, make the world a safer place?

I don't think mankind as a whole is getting any happier from continuously having more and more options. On the contrary, it is generating confusion and it corrodes peace of mind, I think. It seems that anything that IS possible, SHOULD be possible, but I very much doubt that. Would it be so much better to, say, be able to determine your children's eyecolor?

Anyway, is it normal to be disturbed by life getting more and more complicated?

Wow! When I read the title of this I actually thought it was going to be about your life but instead you're thinking about the entire world. I myslef am just confused and disturbed about the things I can change, not the things out of my control. Sounds like a whole lot of burden. Wouldn't say it;s not normal to take on the rest of the world and all it's problems but where is it getting you and most importantly what about the things in the world and your life that you actually have control of and can change. I think it's about the small steps, right?

    • Maybe it would indeed be better for me to only be confused and disturbed about things I actually have control of and can change, but you can't just choose to not be disturbed by certain stuff. You either are or aren't. However, asking where it gets me, was a good question of you. It indeed isn't contributing to my happiness, so I guess I should try to relax a bit and focus on the things I have control of. Still, you can't just choose to not be disturbed by certain stuff.

BTW, what I said IS true, right?

Years ago, a man walked into a jean store, saw the selection of blue jeans, and walked out with a pair of blue jeans. Now, a man walks into a jean store, ponders about which cut and color he should buy, then walks out pondering if he had made the right decision, only to be riddled with uncertainty and a possible return trip. Only now, it's not just jeans.

I would've hated having to fight with a sword so I thank modern weapons for that.

It disturbs me too. People want to be their own Gods so they can worship themselves. I live in Las Vegas and people are so full of themselves. I've never seen so much plastic surgery in my life. I guess I'm glad I don't live in L.A.
