Is it normal to be called a trangender if you havent had the surgery?

Is it normal that I wear a strap-on to assert that I identify as a male but dont plan on getting reconstructive surgery?

Is It Normal?

  • Why don't you want to have a sex change if you are transgendered? I can get why you wouldn't if it's financial or for other reasons like fear and all but if you just don't feel like it then...Meh. Must not want to be a guy that much.

    • I thought that trans genders means that they don't get the sex change, that is transsexual. Gender is just how they look on be outside. But I agree I don't get the point of either. Neither is a real man.

      • You may be right there. I was thinking that when I clicked send but wasn't sure and left myself open to being corrected.

        I don't have a problem with people wanting to be a man when they were born a woman or vice versa, I just think that some people will take it to the point of just wanting to be different, which is why they're go to the edge of something but they're never take that leap on to the other side in order to reach what it is they claim to want to be. Not saying it's the case with this person but you can never be too sure. :)

    • Because you swap a functional genitalia for one that wont work that well.

      Male to female is easier than female to male when it comes to creating functional genitalia.

        • Exactly. but if he/she is comparing it to drag queens then I gess he is probaby more into the att ention/exaggeration of a male like drag queens exaggerated female.

      • No, you do not need to wear a strap on in order to identify as "Transgender" even though you assume that must be the only way you can. A lot of lesbians use strap ons. So wearing a strap on does not identify anything other than the fact you enjoy strap ons. As well as that some straight women enjoy pegging their boyfriends. So you know that makes it even less clear. Some women(Lesbians) enjoy having a fake dick since it makes them feel empowered. If you want to identify as transgender that is all you have to do. Say you are transgender. Transex means you are taking hormones or surgery to alter your body to the other sex.

  • It's fine. A lot of transgender people never get surgery. You don't need the physical body parts to identify as what you want.

  • It's all about words...symantics..what's in a word? A word is a word. Transgender, transexual, tranny, trannie, homosexual, bisexual. Only the person who thinks he is one of these knows the definition.

  • Perfectly normal. A lot of girl-to-guy transgenders never get the surgery because you'd lose a lot of feeling, as well as the inability to orgasm.

  • "Transgender, denoting or relating to a person whose self-identity does not conform unambiguously to conventional notions of male or female gender."

    Just a conscious in identity; not surgery;

  • There's a saying "sex is what's between your legs, gender is what's between your ears", and I would agree. There are many reasons one would not get the surgery, all valid. I am trans and have not got the surgery for a number of reasons. How you identify is how you identify. Gender isn't binary.
