Is it normal to be anxious about starting uni?

With the end of school coming up for me soon, I have been thinking about my future.
I really want to be an Occupational Therapist, but I'm already aware I'm struggling at school with revision etc. I know O.T. includes a lot of science, and I am aware that science is my weakest subject, but I really want to push myself.
It makes me so anxious and worried that I'll do atrociously in the future, and let my family down. For them, it's pertinent that I do well in life.
Like, personally, I would prefure to go to TAFE/College and study Allied Health which branches out into O.T., but then I know that if I go to Uni and do my under-grad, I could achieve more in life.
Idek anymore. Is it normal for me to be this anxious??

IMO, don't be anxious but stay on your toes.

Most importantly though, do EXACTLY what you think is best for yourself. If you need a semester off, take it. If at any point you want to switch majors, do it. While it is obviously important to push yourself, don't burn yourself out. It's a thin line, but you'll find it.

That's normal! I was too. I previously felt terrible at science despite being a nursing major and felt insecure about it. Then I got here and it was easy! I'm more interested in my classes than ever because my teachers are passionate, tutoring is always available, and (at least in my major) my classmates are ready to help each other whenever necessary.

I'm sure you'll have fun! Just remember to leave your room and interact. You won't make friends or enjoy yourself if you become the residence hall ghost. Go to plays, try out for extra curriculars, have fun! Just don't remember to study.

If you ever need advice, ask me! I'm a freshman resident assistant at my uni, so it's my job to help people like you.

What is your advice about subject choices. What if you have no idea what youwant to do?

Do you have no idea at all? When you declare yourself an undecided major they'll ask if you have an area of interest. For example, if you like technology but dont know what specific area they may give you general classes that all tech majors must take. Usually, that's okay. You don't really need a major until the end of your second year and you'll be exposed to so many more things. Most people go this route.

The problem arises when you're interested in specific majors like Nursing. Their schedules are so rigid that its hard to declare and graduate on time after two years. Hell, they need to have all pre-reqs for Nursing School by the end of Sophomore year.

So, usually you'll be okay. Just have a general area of interest before you start.

Yes normal but do what YOU want not what your parents want. You'll do better at anything doing what YOU want rather than being pushed into something else.

    Good luck.

Well tell them they are wasting their money because that's not your path. If they REALLY won't bend if they are that stupid I guess you will go. At least you will have a degree in something and later on you can take the courses you want maybe after working for a year or so and saving money.

Parents can be such assholes sometimes.

I kno I have no choice but to go, so I guess all I can do is try my best. If i start struggling, I really dont want them to think im 'thick'
