Is it normal to be annoyed when people use ''sperm'' and ''semen'' interchangeably

That's like if we start referring to a woman's period as "egg" and vice versa.

  • Yeah, that bugs me too. I'm low-key glad to see that some one else notices this.

It doesn’t really annoy me, but it’s an instant sign that the person has little credibility talking about it.

Would you rather eat semen or pure filtered out sperms?

  • How about just “cum”? It’s tasty too!

The merriam-webster dictionary defines sperm as semen.

You're right, of course, but it irks me far less than people who call women's genitals their "vagina".

That's like calling someone's face their mouth.

I guess I see what you mean, but on the flip side I've never heard anyone, women included, refer to it as the vulva. Sometimes the most correct word just doesn't have much popular usage.

I once used the word "vulva" on this site, and another user said "congrats" on using that word.

From what I've read, there are a lot of women who find the word "vulva" unappealing just because of how it sounds.

I don't get that. For me, the word sounds like the name for something smooth and rounded, and that seems appropriate, but I guess that's just me.

it's because it sounds like Volvo, that's unappealing....

        Maybe.

In any case, I find it really jarring when, for example, I read some woman talking about, "shaving her vagina". I find myself visualising what sort of razor you'd need to do that, and wondering what sort of hairy mutant she must be if she has hair growing up there.

        • Okay, in a case like that, I cringe a little, because I get the thought of someone taking a razor to their actual vagina.
