Is it normal to be afraid of your father when you are a child?

I was just wondering if it is normal that I was scared of my father when I was little. I would dread the time when he would come home from work. He wasn't physically abusive, just had a bad temper.

Were you afraid of either parent as a child?

You're lucky your father just had a temper. my father was a major physically abusive asshole and kicked the shit out of me on a daily basis, so I dreaded whatever that worthless sack of shit would come home. I just thank God my mother divorced him when I was 12 years old.

It's normal to be afraid of your father or mother if either or both are assholes who probably drink too much or abuse drugs, and are physically, mentally, emotionally or even sexually abusive toward you and or your brothers and sisters. I personally think people with bad tempers are mentally weak.

I've never been afraid of my father, never. I love my dad, and he taught me to stand up to him since about the age of four years old.

I don't don't think abusive parents are worthy of love or respect. If you're being abused now just remember that you will have the power to put him in the worst rest home you can find when he's old and feeble.
