Is it normal to be afraid of people who identify themselves as "gender nonbinary"?

For some reason people who identify as such scare me.

Makes you wonder which restroom they go to.

You know it is funny cause transgender (like me) at least try to present as our chosen gender whether we pass very well or not. If someone is non-binary, I would not even know what to call them.

My room mate though who is a young white full figured female though, I think she wants to start identifying as an older scrawny black man named "Leroy".

Buy her a bottle of Mad Dog 20/20 to celebrate.

What do you mean by "what to call them"? Not trying to attack you, I'm genuinely confused and want clarification. You mean pronouns, or...?

      I agree wholeheartedly.

It doesn't make any sense. It undermines so many human rights movements that have come before it. It shits on traditional feminism and it shits on transgenderism.

My room mate doesn't really want to do that.

I think it's super weird that people care & take it as a personal affront of some sort.

Unless you mean a legit phobia?

People can think whatever they want of themselves, but I'm not gonna lose any sleep about those same people getting all booty hurt over someone using some pronouns they don't like.

Like... you mean that very literally? Like if you saw a non-binary person, you'd run away screaming?

    That's... not normal?

People can identfy as whatever the fuck they want. But when I use the words male and female, I am describing your anatomy and hormone profile. I would question the sanity of this person honestly, and avoid them if possible.

Hey there. I don't give enough of a fuck to respond separately to all of the misconceptions in these comments, but I might as well clear some things up while I'm here.
I'm nonbinary. I swear I don't bite. I won't get offended if you "assume my gender" or whatever. No nonbinary people actually do; the prospect of having to publicly defend my identity to strangers while I'm just trying to buy groceries sounds like hell.

Nonbinary identity doesn't undermine transgenderism. Transgender people experience acute emotional distress towards their biological sex and subsequent social role, and a desire to live as the opposite gender. They alleviate this distress by transitioning socially and/or medically. Nonbinary people experience distress towards the prospect of living as either male or female. We alleviate our distress, or try to, by internally coming to terms with the fact that we don't fit either role, and presenting ourselves in a way that reflects that as best we can.

    See ya later pal
