IIN to be 100% certain that life is a simulation?

  • If that's truly the case, why do you care? Why not follow your religion-esque belief and distract yourself in our new reality? Why does it concern you?

Alas, this debate will inevitably delve into what "real" even means which is a hole I don't intend on digging. Would you call a tree in a video game real, though? If we're in a super computer as an experiment that can be stopped at any moment, wouldn't our status as "real" allow us to exist outside of whoever is running this experiment? If we were real, we couldn't be saved or simply turned off. Who do you reckon built this computer and updates it? Why?

    • I didn't say that i care. I can accept it and just go on with my life.

And i dont think this simulation runs out of "Updates" for all we know they could just have fast forwarded time to the year 5000.

And yes, if you're part of the videogame and that shitty 2D pixelated tree is in your world and you cant do anything about it then yes, you can consider it your reality.

I have no idea why this simulation was made though, maybe to just follow the process of evolution (hence the extinction of dinosaurs), to see if they can find the perfect specimen, maybe to discover more things they haven't through us. You can just speculate tbh.

Edit: btw, there's also this little cult about a wider theory where there's a connection between more simulated universes and stuff.
