  • People do get PTSD from child abuse. The person I mentioned was severely abused as a child and has PTSD as a result. If you think being yelled at occasionally or typical punishments is abuse then you don't even know what you are talking about. I wouldn't say I have PTSD, but I have seen horrific things including stuff you mentioned. It is nothing compared to what others experience, such as someone who was raised as a feral child.

    • I will say I have witnessed murder, I have lost many people close to me to horrible things, I have been in many emotionally abusive situations, I was severely bullied as a child, I have had a few other tragic experiences that were not normal.
I probably do not meet diagnostic criteria for PTSD. I did develop some anger management problems and trust issues.
I do know a few people with actual PTSD and their experiences were much worse than my own. It is not a bullshit thing caused by small problems that everyone has.

    • If you think everyone has a good childhood you are incredibly ignorant. It annoys me that people refuse to believe actual horror stories when they clearly see them in the news.

      • Ok. I suppose I took your statement as child abuse doesn't cause PTSD based off the first sentence.

        • an no, being grounded, scolded or spankings does not count unless it was excessive and unreasonable, which is also mental abuse if someone is punishing their children for things they didn't do wrong.
