This is why it's important to understand what you're doing. With that thought process, yes, it's funny. You understand what you're doing is only upsetting those who have no problem asserting their opinions onto others, that in itself is them opening the door for feedback and all you're doing is exhibiting your belief in the golden rule and it's ultimately them breaking that bond and becoming the morally wrong person, because although they're justified in forming opinions and living their lives accordingly it is a commonly agreed upon social rule that you don't force your beliefs onto others. This is why I pursue discourse over debate.
Now sometimes I get frustrated if someone else is being too subtle or using subtlety to be curt, but I feel like in your context they should be able to figure it out, and I try to use my best judgement when subtlety obfuscates me
