  • You don't like the Hairy Porter or the Hungry games?.

  • It is time for you to write. That is the only way you will satisfy what you are looking for. It could make you a multi-millionaire like J. K. Rowling

  • It seems publishers aren't being very choosy lately. I was reading this book I got for Christmas, and not only is it nonsensical and poorly put together, it's full of grammar and spelling errors. The author didn't do her due diligence in research either. It's pathetic. Some books I've read seem to have been written by an eighth grader.

  • Depending on what you like. I've read lots for my age and I know some books from a wide spectrum:
-cats/imaginary animal culture: The Warrior cats, by Erin Hunter
-politics and plotting against each other: Game of Thrones (series) by George R. R. Martin
-prehistory: Clan of the Cave Bear (series) by Jean M. Auel, Chronicles of Ancient Darkness (series) by Michelle Paver
-sci-fi: Hitch-hiker's guide to the Galaxy (series) by Douglas Adams - if you have read that, I strongly recommend the 50th anniversary 11 doctors 11 stories Doctor Who book (series of e-books)
-detective stories/murder cases: look at Camilla Läckberg, she's awesome, and I'm not even counting Agatha Christie under this list
-action thriller + conspiracy: The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie, and the first of its series, Game by Anders De La Motte

The only ones I didn't really enjoy were Game of Thrones and Agatha Christie. It took a lot of concentration to get through a single chapter, as it does with 11 doctors 11 stories, that I'm currently reading, but the second one is by my taste more enjoyable and not as dry-paged, if you know what I mean.

I wish you many hours of enjoying reading :)

  • It has! It is so difficult for me to find a book that I like nowadays. Most of the ones I have read or picked up, are so disappointing. I've had to read foreign and older books, just to find something of quality that I'm interested in reading. I've thought about writing my own books. Perhaps, you should consider doing the same?

  • The big thing is, its that the older books are classics that have stood the test of time. For every well written one, there are lots of garbage books. Ive noticed it going through a box of books that i picked up at a garage sale for $2.

Most of the books are long forgotten by most. Only a few may be well known enough to be a classic.

  • read a lot of the classics ... are the game of thrones books any good

  • Read books published earlier in history. I also feel that recent books are more about sensationalism and conspiracies than anything else. The essence of life, its detail, fails to be captured as it was in past books.

  • Picture of dorian grey, 1984, frankenstein, of mice and men, open road, time machine....so many great books and those ones are of the shorter variety. Modern authors: I like Jeanette winterson, but there are others. Look at man booker winners and long listers. And other competitions. What sort of thing do you like? Are you into lotr type things?

  • Sadly, it seems that in the last few years the editing of books has been lacking. This makes it much harder for me to finish a book. This issue seems to be especially common with novels.
