Is it normal that when i imagine a creation, i forget it when i'm making it?

When i get a great idea, i imagine the outcome and its looks. When i'm about to build it or draw it, like in minecraft or the real world, i can't simply make it. It turns out to be nothing like i expected.

I imagine a great masterpiece i'm gonna draw or make, i have all the materials and equipment right in front of me, when i start to do it, it just gets worse and worse, and ends up with a huge disappointment. It doesn't make sence that i imagine something great and then i can't even show it to other people.

I play bass and guitar, i can think of a solo piece that sounds good, but i suddenly forget the whole thing when i'm about to play it. It's like having a dream, and when you wake up, you forgot it. Is there something wrong, or is this a normal phenomenon

  • Oh man... I've been doing exactly the same thing trying to make music. Literally as soon as I start trying to play what I'm hearing, it starts to disappear!! It's so frustrating. Or if I do get as close to it as I can, the song will end up completely different to how I first imagined, which can be ok... but its still never as awesome as what I imagined.
It's just so hard to externalise these things!!!
    Normal phenomenon I think.
