Is it normal that we are called "users"?

That is the proper terminology that we, the users, should call ourselves and should be called as a group. What does that say about us? What if I got in Facebook and announced in a status, "Here, ye, fellow users!" what would they think?

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Don't worry though. Right now, you're what we called OP. While OP is original poster, it also stands for original people.

    • No no no not the Ikea .....

My furniture is all bought secondhand, given to me or picked up off the side of the road, I can't remember actually ever buying a new piece of furniture.

I went to Ikea ONCE to check it out - nightmare, I thought I'd never get out of there, acres and acres of bland bland bland

        • I don't eat meat very often and swedish meat balls don't appeal, but does Ikea have horny middle aged women for me? I don't believe it, I'll have to ask someone who goes there, but I really don't know many of people

The nearest Ikea is a very long way from here, I'd need some sort of guarantee to bother

            • Second hand shops, friends' & family excess stuff, charity shops .... Ikea as a last resort I suppose. Is Ikea stuff cheap? It's boring enough to be practically free in my opinion

  • Pretty standard terminology in techy circles. Although I don't actually see where that term appears. It actually seems to call us members in more places (e.g. member chat). Unless you count the (even more common) term "username", which shows up a few places.

  • Many IINers feel like they're addicted to IIN, so User actually seems quite fitting.

  • Is this really the only place you've seen the term "user" online?Btw yes, you can address Facebook users as "users", but why would you when you can call them "friends" or "family"?

  • How about members instead? As in members of this fucked up online community. After all, we have to sign up, which is like joining, right?
