Is it normal that the male gender is always better-looking in the animal kingdom

How come that the male gender of almost any species look better than the female counterpart? I mean, just look at moose for example, or lions, or basically any bird that exists.

It’s cause men have to show off in order to attract a mate. Men have to work for it women don’t. Take humans for instance. If a woman flashes her tits or pussy guys a going to want to see it. But but if I’m at a bar and start flashing my nutsack i get kicked out of the bar.

Females generally need to be more discreet and hide to protect their eggs/offspring. Males have to prove they're worthy of mating by showing off in a wide array of ways. It's not all roses for males though, black widow spiders and Russian human females kill the male after mating.

It's cause the men have to get laid. We don't need to prove ourselves to get a bit 😂😂😂

most females in the animal kingdom are more plain and bland because they're the ones that usually take care of the offspring, if the female was as brightly colored or more show offish in most species predators would be more attracted and spot the female more easily putting the offspring at more risk of danger. the female must blend in and lay more undetectable so she is more well hidden while raising her children

That's your opinion. I care to differ.

    • So it's not an observable fact that the majority of male animals have a distinguished appearance?

I don't find them more attractive than females. Females are the fairer sex and that is my opinion indeed. Males may have outstanding features in certain species, but the subtle feminine charm is far more seductive.

    • May have something to do with the fact that most women use makeup and guys don't.

    This is an opinion.

Roosters are males and they are quite ugly compared to Hens which are female for example.

    • They may be uglier to some humans (not me), but roosters are still more dressed up with their saddle feathers, extra colors, ect.

The hens are pretty, but their feathers are simple.

    • But why do female versionslook more " bland " and colorless?

Because the hens love a big red cock.

Just the way it is, with regards to humans for example. The females are clearly more beautiful.

They are in fact uglier but if you look at peacocks an peahens then that's a bit different, isn't it?

Too bad it can't be like that in the human kingdom.

You ever see a pair of cardinals? The male's are bright red to attract females, but the females are various browns and such, to camouflage. That's just how nature works.

It is more important for females to blend into the environment so that predators don't notice them.

Unlikely. I have been a grandpa for 15 years. At this point, you haven't yet shown indicators that you have much experience with the job.

  • The obvious answer is that the males of those species are the ones who have to attract mates.

However, with my chickens, even when they were completely free ranged, status and personality took precedence over looks.

I have some beautiful roosters, but the moment an average looker with short legs and scrappy feathers came in and either beat their asses or out-macho-ed them, the hens went for him.

The best fighter will be feared by other roosters, so hens are protected from rape in his presence.

Though, if a rooster is a gentleman (rarely rapes, clucks and gives hens food), but low in the pecking order, hens will still like him.

Hens seem to notice things about a rooster's personality: his confidence, the way he carries himself, his maturity.

I've seen roosters lose hens after they began acting timid.

Status is heavily influenced by confidence, since chickens use intimidation tactics like eye contact, low noises, stance, and dancing.

My huge rooster jumped away scared one time. I couldn't even see what was behind him until he moved- a tiny bantam rooster not even the height of his legs.

But that little rooster's ego was the size of the big rooster, and the big rooster's ego was the size of the bantam.

The big one lost solely because he chickened out, pun intended.

Oh definitely, I could spot my female kittens just by looking at their coats rather than their underpants. Hehe. Feline beauty is a thing to admire.

Not sure, at least with lions the male has the pretty mane. Is it the same for house cats?

I know the female dog has the make but it's more around the neck line.

They're not prettier, they're stronger. The female species works hard taking care of their babies and this can have an effect on her physical condition.

They have to be attractive so the females will want them. Peacocks show off to the female.
