Is it normal that some seniors are so dumb and gullible?

Found out my late grandma gave her bank account number and other information to a random person who called her, pretending to represent her bank. She never got the money back and didn't tell anyone except my aunt. There was supposedly about half a million in the account.

You realise you lose brain cells as you age and it will happen to you as well?

    • Then you should end it at 60.

I can now understand why she gave the money to strangers rather than you.

Older people are more vulnerable. You're a cunt for belittling them. Your own grandmother. Shame on you.

Take heart, young man. Everything you are saying about old people is unfortunately true. I am old, and I trust nobody. I do not answer my door, nor do I answer the phone unless it is a number I recognize. I do all my own automotive work, and I am my own financial adviser. I do not even trust dentists to work on my teeth.

When you are old like me (I am almost 70.) You have a target on your back. Protect the older people in your extended family. Scams can happen at anytime. And, please don't berate them for having limp cocks or dry vaginas. Sexual impotence is a terribly pathetic part of being old.

Is it normal for anyone to be dumb and gullible? Age doesn't really have much to do with it in my experience. I've seen very old people that were sharp as a tack, as well as very young people who were dumber than a box of rocks...

Yeah its crazy the way life works. Like if the human condition didn't deteriorate youd be so wise to the game by the time you were 80. instead you end up as vulnerable as a small child. Well most do.

The good part of this story is that you didn't get a penny of that money. Great!

    • Yes, because a scumbag scammer who preys on the elderly is much more deserving. Happy about that?

    You didn't help her out?

She didn't have anyone... To help her.

    That's what I see.
    What you see... Money.
    Great, grandchild.

    • I visited her often. I don't know what she was doing with her personal finances.

  • The op isn't the bad guy here, its the scammer. I honestly think that those who take advantage of the elderly should be beaten in the street by their family.

What seems odd is that this story appears to be about the misfortunate of a member of your family, but then the way it is written seems to be completely dissociative, as if you either hate that person, or you've made them up for the sake of the story.

It was most likely just a mistake, mistakes are very easy to make the older you get.

    Mistakes happen.

I bet she learned from it. Either that or she has amnesia.

...or she had a great time in Vegas with some young studs.
Now she can scratch it off her bucket list.
