Over here (Australia) it's now 16 for heterosexual sex, 18 for homosexual sex in all states. There used to be some wild deviations (pardon the pun) in the age of consent, from 13 for girls in one state, to 18 for guys in another. Thankfully they made it all uniform.
I still personally feel the difference between Heteosexual consent and homosexual consent is kind of wrong, but from what I've seen it seems somewhat common globally to tie homosexual consent with "adulthood". Of course, it's been a few years since I actually did any real research on that (no real interest as I'm not gay), and with most places becoming more "gay tolerant" these days things may have changed.
