Is it normal that my music library only has 350 songs in it?

I spend /hours/ listening to new music every day in my free time and find that I only like maybe 1% or 2% of it. Some days I'll listen to 40 or 50 new songs and find nothing that appeals to me. Is it normal to be this picky about music?

    • Right?! If you google “average music library size” it says folks have between 3,000-7,000 songs, and I really just can’t fathom liking that much music.

      • What the heck?! And I thought I had a lot of songs... I’ve never heard anyone having a 3000+ song playlist before! How do they have any storage left on their phone??

  • I still have an iPod (yes it’s still 2009 in my brain, thanks for asking) and there are about 750 songs on that. But a lots are just filler songs on CDs I downloaded. I like a few hundred other songs I haven’t downloaded so my collection is around 1000 songs.

But I have a friend who has 30,000.

People listen to music in different ways.

  • I like to pick a genre and find new music that way.

  • I have a Spotify playlist with almost 3000 songs with MOST of the music I like. But I try to listen to new albums every day at work, usually only a couple of songs off an album make it to that playlist (if any, at all) so I know what you mean...
