She's a hairdresser they're required to do that. When I used to have long hair, the people at my shop used to literally fondle over it and some people acted like a "hairmodel" (a role model for hair). Then I cut it and thankfully lost allot of the pressure. They still feel my hair, but it's part of their job. At least your hairdresser isn't like a friend of mine, she seems to have a serious obsession with hair:/
