Is it normal that my cat goes really crazy when i give catnip?

Today I started giving her catnip and she goes absolutely crazy she reaches her paws to get it when I wave it around her, I compare it to when you give a 7 year old child some candy and the child is screaming " gimme! " at this point she's like saying to me " gimme that catnip! " I play games with her and she chases me around for me to give her the catnip. For her its like marijuana but for cats ( I may as well name it the marijuana thing for cats, except she isn't a stoner though. )

Is this a normal thing that I am describing?

For some cats, catnip is very like a marijuana high, sometimes as if it had speed mixed in with it, so normal for your cat.

I had one cat who loved it so much he killed a quite large catnip bush by rolling and rolling and rolling on it; other cats I've had don't seem to be affected by it. Just like humans with grass, eh?

Oddly enough my cat isn't that much into catnip. I kinda wish he was more into catnip.

There is a gene that makes them react to catnip. Not all cats have it.

Probably means that he's a level headed dude. Likes to remain in control. Good for him.

Yeah, it's got his priorities to maintain. I didn't actually hire him as a life coach, he just sort of stepped into that role.

I was hoping for something similar with mine, but she sees it as too much of an imposition on her time. I can go to her with my problems, but after we've hugged it out she usually has other things to tend to. She's so busy these days. I don't pay her enough.

This is completely normal, it’s drugs for cats, my boy used to love his catnip cactus toy and use it as a pillow for his naps.
