Is it normal that my boyfriend doesn't want to have sex with me?

I'm always trying to initiate sex with my boyfriend, but he always says that he's too tired, or not in the mood. I understand this, because he wakes up at 6am to go to work, but I feel like he's pushing me away and is just not attracted to me. The weird thing is, he was just reading a Cosmo and was like, "Oh, you should read this", and it was about the girl initiating sex more often. I'm like, "What the hell?", and he swears that he is always initiating sex, and that I never try. Just tonight, I tried kissing him and getting him to, and later when he went to bed, I tried, but he's like "Oh, I'm tired.", and then said that I never tried. For the record, he's 21. Shouldn't guys at that age WANT to have sex? We have sex like maybe twice a month. What the hell!

  • I'd look elsewhere love. If he isn't interested when you're young and pert, he certainly isn't going tobe interested when the good stuff starts to sag.

    Look this way darling...x

No- I get it. Recent BF was the same- and I KNOW he thinks I'm hot. It was him- he felt bad about himself, and I think maybe he wanted me to attack him, take him, not take no for an answer. [men seem to like sexually aggressive women- even the ones that say they don't like whores. Bull.] I couldn't do it not KNOWING if he really wanted it or me. VERY frustrating.

It was [in my opinion] too much sugar, horrible diet, led to no libido, no stamina. He claimed tired and stressed-- his life WAS very stressful for a bit, but it was more. Refused to talk about it, we just drifted- he deliberately kept me at arms length, got to where I just got too tired of trying. My self esteem is not low enough to chase after someone that "likes having me around" but is so un-affectionate.

If he refuses to talk about it, there are several other issues- SOY is one-- turns them into girls- just watch, keep asking, and finally, leave before committing too much of your life to him. You deserve more. I need to be touched, and kissed, and not feel so badly about myself. I didn't used to, do not now...

he is either gay, or banging something else. Noone is that tired and specially at that age.. When i was 21 i was banging my gf 4-5 times a day, sometimes for so many hours that we literally did nothing else all day.

Maybe he is asexual but does not want to mention it (or maybe even admit it to himself) because ... well, having a sex drive is considered normal after all and you might feel like he did not care for you even though he does in everything but sex, because asexual does not have to mean aromantic.
Or maybe he does have a sex drive but a relative low one, not all people are the same.
Him being just tired could be true too, you know?

I agree with those people who said that you should talk with him.

Well, the fluctuations in sexual need seem a little due to his work, his libido may be down because of all that he does, and of an evening, he's simply too tired to perform.

The fact that he says that you never try to initiate, you should talk to him about that.

It's not uncommon to have sex only occasionally, think of it this way, you wouldn't want to have sex too often, otherwise it might get boring.

Good advice, talk to him about it and if he can't really offer a good explanation, maybe you should reevaluate your relationship. It may seem overkill to say that just because of your sex life, but at that age...it's really important. Think about how it will be when he's 40 ::shudder:: I would be pissed if my boyfriend only had sex with me twice a month. It's kind of wrong that he is trying to blame it on you. Confront him and if things don't improve, find someone else who will give you the attention you want and need.

  • 21? 2x a month? Tell him to go see his Dr. You are right. His pole should be pointing north a lot more than that.

His defensiveness & inability to communicate about his low sex drive, even flipping it into being you as the problem, make me wonder how suitable a partner he will be over the long run.

It's not common but it's not too rare. If sex is that big of an issue for you find a new guy. Don't pressure him into doing something he doesn't want to though.

Just be like " look I really want to have sex because I fucking want to fuck you" don't take no for an answer if he gets mad than maybe he no longer feels the same for you or he might be gay or he is seeing someone else or he really might just be tired and would rather sleep than have sex

What the hell? Don't take no for an answer, we call that rape and if your moral compass is just that fucked please get psychologically evaluated. I feel sorry for the guy that has to deal with you.

Try to spice it up a little1 is it just regular sex? try filling the room with candles use incense. play a sexual game, tie each other up and do kinky nasty naughty things to each other. mabey he is board with regular sex and needs more stimulation. try striking matches near his cock or melting candles wax on him.get some new kinky pretty outfit to wear for him. be kinky!! The kinkier the better!!!!

      I'm a guy. Don't listen to this.
Guys don't care about that candle/incense crap.

First, make him feel good about himself. Then take a shower together. Give him a bj... tell him to lick you, etc.

im a guy too. dont listen to females about males. they are just taking their best guess. any man worth his salt doesnt like all that romantic intimate lovy dovy sex all the time. sure we do every once in a while, its more of a relaxing sex but not too often. personally and as more dominant type males do, i like to be in control, what i say goes. dont fight me in what i want to do in bed, just do it. talk dirty, tell him how much you love to get fucked by him. and all that good stuff. also, i dont like it when my girl is on top. i feel like shes the one fucking me and thats just not my thing. but its also really sexy when a woman initiates sex aggressively but after that, just go with with his flow.

Spicing things up seems like a great and sexy idea IF it will be reciprocated on both ends. I feel like my husband wants me to be this dirty talking energy-bomb whilst he just lays there silently. I'm still young but I've already started getting sick of 'coming out of my shell' only to see that it apparently isn't good enough and that he doesn't plan to do the same for me. Sorry...just venting lol.
