Is it normal that melatonin makes me really emotional?

I have frequent trouble getting to sleep, and tbh most of the time I don’t take anything for it. But for the past three nights I’ve been taking 10-15 mg of melatonin just before bed, and I’ve found not only that it doesn’t make me sleepy at all, but it also triggers my depression something fierce, usually leaving me sobbing and trying to stave off suicidal thoughts. Anyone else have this reaction?

Since this one isn't good for you, perhaps you should try a sleep aid with different ingredients?

    Try using valerian root instead.

You should definitely ask a doctor for a prescription of something else.
