  • OH MY GOD HOW SHOCKING!

You mean, around the time that men started spending all day playing world of warcraft and call of duty and stopped having social skills or any recognizable habit of going outside...virginity peaked!!!???

It definitely makes sense to blame women for the rise of incel-dom though. I guess we aren't doing our public service by failing to knock on the doors of random moms to see if there's any lonely guys in their basement who havent showered in 2 weeks.

    Our bad.

    • Being serious here, I'm going to present a complicated cultural argument that is gender neutral. It's based on social sensibilities that existed way back in the 1950s.

Long ago, most women (the Beckys) were valued by how successful their children were. Didn't really matter if they were married to a Chad or not. Top quality maternal influences reigned supreme. Teaching your kids pre-algebra in third grade even tho it wasn't in textbooks yet, telling them the fuck with their homework in fifth grade - go read an essay in a news magazine instead, and we will talk about it at dinner time. This was the world I grew up in, as well as my four siblings. College was cheap, academic quality was top notch, and state tax payers kept the cycle going so their kids could have a shot at success.

In other words the system basically worked. Production jobs paid the bills. Upward mobility was expected.

The 70s brought container shipping, silicon wafer fabrication, and birth control pills. Everyone's dream - sort of. Except, now with tremendous demand for advanced skills, higher education raised their prices fast; really fast. Not much choice but to pay the price, and become a high tech student loan debt slave.

The excellent domestic influences that the Beckys were good at, suddenly didn't matter. Children had become unaffordable.

There you have it. 21st century Beckys drink coffee at Starbucks on Saturday morning and are valued for very little. They just don't have the warm healthy glow of a wonderful family that Grandmother Beckys once had. Sure, a few Stacys bang the Chads, but that happened back in the 50s too. *Sigh*.

Emptiness is a sign of the times, kids.

    • No it's not women's fault like incels claim, it's their own fault.
