Is it normal that im not mentally ill?

Mental illness runs heavily in my family. My mother was an undiagnosed schizophrenic until recently and is bipolar as well. My brother is manic depressant and has a psychopathic personality disorder. My sis is schizo and bipolar like my mom, and my father was manic depressant. Somehow, i didnt get anything. While my childhood was tumultuous to say the least, but somehow came out of it all very well adjusted. No depression, no voices, no anger issues, nothing. When my wife met my family, she asked me how in the hell i turned out so normal lol.

Im just wondering if this is common. is it possible that i just got lucky and didnt inherit those bad genes, or is mental illness in me but for some reason hasnt shown up yet or been triggered? Thanks for any insight.

    Just be careful.

    Plus to ask is it normal then you’re probably fine. How’s your other personality?

    It's definitely surprising you don't have a mental illness if everyone in your family was.

      I know. Im slightly afraid that it will show up one day, though im in my mid forties and nothing yet. Everyone in my family showed signs as children. Hopefully ill be fine at this point.

      I never said i was normal, just not mentally ill.my dark sense of humor is totally abnormal in every way :D
      Example:
      A neighbors dog was chasing a cat through my back yard and i chased the dog away and brought him inside to make him feel better. I called my wife and told her about it
      Me: "i pulled that dog off of a cat in the yard.
      Wife: "wheres the cat now?"
      Me: "i played with him for a while and put him under the bed"
      Wife: "is it the black cat with the pretty yellow eyes?"
      Me: "im not sure. I never found his head"
      Wife "youre so sick"
