Is it normal that i've given up on life?

I've spent most of my life stressing that it's not going how I want it to, I had huge aspirations for myself but I was going nowhere.
I'm still going nowhere but I just don't care anymore, one on hand it's making life less stressful because I'm not expecting much, but on the other, I've lost all drive to do anything.

(In my mid 20s)

Is this normal?

It depends what you mean by "all drive to do anything." If you mean you're reasonably comfortable with how you're living right now and not making any plans to change it, then yes, that's normal. People tend to realize in their mid 20s that they won't achieve every grandiose plan they made when they were younger. But if you mean you have no interest in any career, social activities, or hobbies whatsoever, that could be an indication of depression.

    • I've struggled with depression for a long time, and it's a mix of both really.

I don't really care about anything and have little interest in things, I'm just going through the motions of life. It could be worse, it's been worse, I'm just worried that when I'm older I'll feel cheated out of life I guess.

Yeah, that sounds like depression is for sure playing a part, even if it isn't the worst form of depression right now. Maybe you could set small goals, so that you don't have to work super hard when you're not feeling motivated, but you can still have accomplishments to look back on? You're right, even if you don't care about much now you might not feel the same way in the future.

Yeah, even people who accomplish all they want feel like this way too. Probably depression, but this kind of mentality get deep rooted and hard to change.
