Is it normal that i think the pandemic isn't that bad?

People are always whining about the pandemic, but I personally feel like it is a rather tame event, compared to the tragedies of the 20th century. ( WW1, Spanish flu, Great depression, WW2 )

It's the goverments that made it into the mass panic it became.

Now people are questioning how legitimate the threat is and why the goverment thinks it can shut down peoples lives.

I'm not sure if it was the governments or the media. I think the US media saw it as a way to trash Trump when it started. The politicians just jumped on the bandwagon.

Now they're kind of stuck with what they created and don't know how to stop the snowball from rolling down hill and getting bigger and bigger.

Australia is essently "Handmaid's Tale" and no one is talking about it!!

If it was ever about ending the virus, immunuty testing would be valued over "vaccines".

People just trust government too much. They thinks its just a crazy conspiracy to believe that government can go rogue. Even though it always happens in history eventually in a government. Ppl dont think that every action has a reaction.

I dont get why they dont see the wider implication of vaccine mandates. They dont realize that giving government the authority to inject you with drugs over a freakin 0.2% death rate is opening a door that you dont want open. Youre setting the precedent for a government to just inject you with whatever they want. Did they miss the whole epstein stuff where all these world leaders and vaccine makers are engaging in ped0philia? HOW DO THEY TRUST THESE PPL?

Because world leaders were diddling kids with him and people still trust these world leaders and want to give more power to them.

Ppl who run the government are ped0s.

I hate people who dont get flu shots and or come in to work super sick. I always catch colds when others are sick around me. I get over the colds, but im miserable the whole time.

Now why would anyone willing want to get covid even if they do get over it? Now if I had the chance to avoid feeling miserable, why wouldnt I do it?

I know people who died, so I definitely think the pandemic is bad.

But relatively is it? Like the black plague killed 2/3rds of europe. That was bad. A plague that killed 1% of people who mostly were immunocompromised or had comorbidities is a weak sauce plague.

From a statistical perspective you're right. But from an empathy perspective, immunocompromised people don't want to die sooner than they have to, and even from a self-centred perspective, they are amongst the people in our lives whom we don't want to die either, because they are our friends, sisters, mothers etc. And from a purely utilitarian perspective, even if they're someone else's friend, mother, sister etc. and not ours, if so many people are suffering from the early departure of that one person, it harms productivity and efficiency of the societal machine.

Point being: if a virus is causing a disproportionate number of immunocompromised people to die sooner than anticipated, then if we can prevent that, shouldn't we, even on the most amoral grounds?

Not if it compromises the freedom of others. You want to save people from preventable deaths? Noble intentions. Ban cars, and alcohol since that kills way more healthy people. Oh people dont want to get rid of their cars? Well they are a bunch of grandma killers then. Because we in the noble intentions club care only for the safety of people rather than the freedom of risks and rewards.

That's why this virus is so dangerous. Not because of the virus itself. But because people are willing to sacrifice everything to save a few people. Statistically that's immoral as hell.

I'm only thinking of it in terms of how it has affected my friends, family and myself. I haven't been able to think about it in the terms you're referring to since before anyone I knew died.

Sorry for your loss. Though I still hold a cold heart in this regard because at least most of my family survived covid. As 99% of people have. Smoking has done statistically more harm to my family than covid.

I only remember theres a pandemic when I turn on the TV or go online. I never hear bout it and everything has stayed normal the entire time. Im really proud of the people in my community for not being such sissies. The first few weeks ppl was calling out of work and wearing masks all the time but as soon as ppl started getting it word of mouth got around about it people started to ease up. People realized really quick that it was overblown abit.

By now its gotta be like 90% of the ppl in my state have either had covid or got the vaccine now
