Is it normal that i think that minorities shouldn't get special treatment?

I have been living in the USA for a few years now. When I first got here, the ammount of racism from the general population surprised me... but what really shocked me is how people that believe themselves to be non-racists try to be overly correct with minorities, even giving them special treatment.

At my work, the superiors are truly ruthless, but they act compassionate towards minorities. There is a black girl here that doesn't do anything productive during the whole day. I have to do my job and hers; all while earning less. I have talked a few people about her, and most treated me like I was a racist.

When I was attending university it was the same. Teachers were much more merciful with minorities. I also have a multi-cultural social circle, and I notice that the "white guys" avoid speaking about certain things in front of these people.

I don't know, people at my homeland are kinda racist as well... but this weird phony correctness that I witness everyday just seems ridiculous.

    I think nobody should get special treatment on the basis of their ethnic background.

    Come to South Africa:
    Where whites are the minority and get treated like shit.
    Where there are laws designed to make it impossible for white-owned businesses to be successful.
    Where Blacks (majority) get preference in universities with much lower marks.
    Where whites get accused of racism if they treat everyone equal and don't give blacks special treatment.

    Congratulations! Now you know why people in this country hate niggers! The reason the supervisors in your company are afraid to do or say anything to the lazy bitch is because they know if they criticize her or fire her, she will yell discrimination and some bleeding-heart liberal lawyer will file a lawsuit against the company. You are looking at the reason most employers in the US in private enterprise refuse to hire niggers in the first place, and the reason why government offices are full of them!

    I know exactly what you mean. Both sexism and racism right now seem to be having this same problem right now.

    Hopefully sometime we can actually stop over correcting our society and just promote equality.

    Rich people brought boat loads of human trash to this country for cheap labour, that meant for your average working man or woman our quality of life went to shit. I'm racist and I make no apologizes.

            We got paid enough money to live a goog life, the crime rate was low, then the lebs, gooks, wogs, punjabi's, and blacks came. Now everything is shit and we struggle to survive...Yeah, I'm racist.

        Yeah I hate this type of bull crap. There is a line between being a favourtism/kissing up and being respectful. People don't seem to understand the difference.

        Yes we should all respect each other but people take advantage of the fact that people are willing to respect them. For that reason none of these groups deserves any damn respect anymore. If you are going to treat people like shit for being a different race, religion, or gender since you are apparently better you deserve to be treated like shit for it.

        What is worse is when people are treated poorly by people within the same minority group. Since they do not fit the status qou of what that race should be. Like "Every white man needs to be a construction worker or fuck you" that kind of stuff.

        Yes, I am so sure being in a minority group means you can only do certain jobs. Are we going to start demoting women doctors back to nurses since that's a "WOMEN" job? Its the same type of bullshit. We took 2 steps forward and than 12 steps back.

    Why do you assume that the girl at your job is getting attention because she is a minority? Maybe your superiors actually like her... or she might be related to the manager or something.

    When I attended university, teachers treated the students the same. If a student was experiencing a tough time, they talked personally with the professor to see how they could cooperate and pass the class.

    What certain things do these white guys avoid speaking in front of minorities?

    I don't think anyone is getting special treatment... maybe you just only see their color, and not the other factors that can contribute to this.

        She's getting attention from the superiors in a positive manner. He/She doesn't like this and assumes it is because they are minorities. That is what doesn't make sense.
