I don't think pornography is inherently degrading to women. It doesn't have to be.
But in reality, a lot of it IS. Even mainstream porn, like you mentioned in the post.

And it's not only the effect it has on the porn stars. It shapes the perception young people have of sex. There's a whole generation of kids whose first exposure to sex is through porn. And I doubt they are all savvy enough to realise that it's not necessarily an accurate representation of what sex is like.

Sex doesn't have to be about love. But does mainstream porn really have to include the throatfucking, the "cumming" on faces etc etc?
Of course it's fine between consensual adults! I just don't think it's very good sex education for young people.

I agree that porn has a negative effect on the people involved, especially young women. A lot of girls who get into the business come from troubled families and have issues from their childhood and teenage years. Then the experience of working in the porn industry takes advantage of their already vulnerable mental or psychological issues and it can lead to a sort of downward spiral. It's no wonder that tons of porn stars put up pictures of them doing meth, coke, pot, smoking, drinking, other drugs, and just having an unhealthy lifestyle both physically and mentally.

The majority of claims in your post would require you to have watched a significant amount of porn to even be aware of. Either that, or you are just going off of unconfirmed things that you heard. Many of the acts you list as violent are not violent. Bukkake and double penetration do not involve violence. A gangbang is just sex with multiple partners, it does not have to be any more or less violent than sex with one partner.

There is certainly porn that depicts violent acts, but to say it is the majority is a rather large exaggeration. It is also unfair to say that all of that violence is directed toward women. There is plenty of bondage and S&M porn depecting women committing violent acts against men. Let's also not forget that gay male porn is a huge part of the porn market, and that porn doesn't involve women at all.

I also reject the idea that you can not find porn which depects normal love making. There is an abundant supply available. The amount of it is on the rise, because the internet has given rise to a huge increase in amateur porn from regular couples, and much of that depects normal, vanilla sex acts.

There is a variety of porn available to fit all the demands of the market. I do not believe that just appearing in a porn is any more degrading to a woman than it is to a man.

Take a look at the documentary. "Hot Girls Wanted" on Netflix. It's about an 18yo who gets into amateur porn and it ends up touching on most of what you talked about

The only thing in porn that bothers me is when a guy is getting blown and he has his hand on the back of her head forcing her to blow him. I sometimes feel she can't breathe. Some of the best porn is amateur porn made by couples in their own bedrooms. As long as they're both willing, I don't see a problem. I'm sure there are many young girls who are vulnerable and are coaxed into doing movies that they might regret later. I'm sure it's a tough racket to get out of once you're in. Maybe the minimum age to perform in adult movies should be raised. An 18 year old is fresh out of high school and still not overly mature.

Yes and no, but remember the porn industry has the exact same rules and regulations as any other industry or business and that is to provide a safe working environment for its employees.

The employees, being the actors, would spend hours going over things, rehearsing (give or take) and if there were to be any rough stuff, would have to be agreed upon by both actors.

Even though it's porn, the actors still have rights and must consent to any kind of freaky shit they do.

You might say that about so-called 'professional' porn, though I would question whether or not that would be the case with amateur porn. But yes, some of them do use drugs as a way of numbing not only the emotional pain, but the actual physical pain of some of the sex acts that they participate in (sometimes as a result of their economic circumstances), and some of them rack up killer medical bills.
