  • If God did not want us to have birth control, would He have allowed its development in the first place? Does the Lord not wish us, His children, to be strong for ourselves, that we may serve His will more intelligently? Is it not possible that He allowed this (birth control) to develop while He watched us, His children, grow as a people, that we might have a tool in our hands to permit us to better care for the world He gave to us, as we, His children, "matured"? Is it not possible that we, as His children, have "outgrown our playpen", so to speak, and thus would it be so much a sin to accept the tools that Our Father has left to us as we grow into a more advanced stage of being?

    • You are distorting the image of what God truly is. Human beings created birth control, God didnt miraculously deliver it to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden did he? God has given us free will to decide for ourselves what our fate's will be. God's will is creating man in his image with the ultimate goal to continue procreating more man, also in his image, to further serve his benevolent will. If God didnt want more people on the planet then he simply wouldnt make women pregnant.

      • Good point. Ultimately God wants what's best for his children, though. I doubt I'd have been given the intelligence and resources to use the pill if what was best for me entailed an unwanted pregnancy and poverty. I feel that it is pertinent to make the best of what we are given. I was given a working class family in a country that offers birth control practically for free, and I don't consider digging my family deeper into financial distress serving the lord or making the best of my resources. Ideologically I could be totally wrong but shoot, I am not having to listen to any screaming babies while I am doing homework and barely making ends meet. If Gods plan were for me to be a mother at 20 I doubt a few synthetic hormones would have gotten in the way. They haven't for some women...

    • This is basically what was written in the Gospel Principals book that our church teaches from.
