Is it normal that i think children's movies were dark, creepy in the 70s and 80s?

For some reason, the children's movies made in these decades all seem to have a very dark, ominous tone over them, as if they were purposely made to traumatize children.

Children are raised to be overly sensitive now and are sheltered from everything so the media that is made for them has changed to reflect that.

I find Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory (1971) very creepy. Especially when that kid gets stuck in the pipe.

That's a movie full of creepy children, but it's certainly not a children's movie.

You want to watch something that will fuck you up - find the "Faces of Death" videos if you can. True those were not meant for kids, i just thought i throw that out there.

Duuuude, I've seen those. A lot of it is fake, but the crap that isn't...god day-amn.

You know what else? Those safety PSAs that used to be shown in school. I've seen a lot of those on Youtube and they are fucked up.

My uncle would play those old tapes at family events when we were kids.
