Is it normal that i think bille eilish's music is boring?

All her songs are minimalistic and just plain boring, IMO. However, I do have to give her credits for actually writing her own fucking songs unlike most other singers nowadays, even though it's boring and lame.

I tried to like her songs, but like you I was just bored by her musical style. I’ve heard some decent covers of Bad Guy and You Should See Me In a Crown though.

Perfectly normal. In fact 95% of today's music is boring.

Agreed. I try to give it a fair chance every once in awhile, but find that there's maybe 1% of modern songs (that are played on the radio and get mainstream attention, anyway) that I think are okay or better. Most of it sounds the same, and just sounds like a bunch of noise to me. I'm also not a fan of the mixing rap/hip-hop/R&B with everything or the excessive use of autotune, or the same style of whiny/breathy singing that seems to be so popular.

A lot of people say to try to dig to find underground/non-mainstream music to find good modern music, but I'm not sure if it's really worth it to dig, and dig, and dig just to find something good, when there's plenty of older music at my disposal that is enjoyable, lol. I mostly use music for background noise anyway, so don't see the point of searching for hours just to find something made in the last year that isn't mediocre. Plus, a lot of the "Indie" stuff also all sounds the same and isn't my cup of tea, either.

Agreed. It's a shame she has a really good voice but she pushes it down on purpose to whisper on all her freaking songs because it sounds "edgy" or whatever. I think she has potential to be so good because her songs aren't bad really, she just tries way too hard. She'll grow up though eventually.
Personally I really liked her song "My Future". It felt different from her first album.

I agree with this. I heard one of the first songs she ever did when she was like 13 or something, and I think she has talent, and her music doesn't really do anything to showcase that. I think the same thing about Ariana Grande. She has great talent, but her music does nothing for it.

I think the whole point of Billie Eilish's music seems to be for the sake of being "different", and it really is different, I'll give her that. It's not my thing, though.

I don't care for it, either. It's different, I'll give her that, but it's not for me. I personally hate really hushed sounding voices, I don't know why, but I've always found really mumbly, hushed voices to be extremely irritating. The music itself does nothing for me either, just not my taste.

i think idontwannabeyouanymore is really good, some of her stuff from dont fall asleep where do we go (bad guy, etc.) is catchy but overhyped imo

TL;DR: Yeah, it's completely normal. Now for the essay because I feel like writing one:

Starting from nearly four years ago, me and a good buddy on Discord used to complain about whatever the newest music trends were. I remember when we bagged on SoundCloud rap when it was huge. I remember by early 2019, which was when Billie Eilish REALLY took off, at that point me and him kinda slowed down on the complaining, but he fucking despised everything Billie stood for. I sort of agreed but then of course, me and him had always talked about the 'next big music phenomenon', and Billie fit that description, so her music really fascinated me even if it wasn't the type of music me and him envisioned. And although the whispery voice and downbeat nature of some of her songs did put me off a little (at that point I was tired of everything being so downbeat), I thought she was really fucking cool in how she captivated the world the way she did. In fact, for a brief period I was a big fan of her music and with nobody else to express it to. Course I'd never say that to him at the time lmao. I've grown to have a lot of respect for her as an artist. It secretly got me out of the musical bubble I put myself in for a little while.

While I haven't listened to any of her songs since last year, I still respect her music. But there's very good reason to think her stuff is boring, especially if you're not a fan of her vocals or the mood of her songs.
