Is it normal that i think alot about what happens when we die

ok so i just can't stop thinking about religion,death,afterlife... i mean..every group have their opinion but let be honest here: if there is an eternal afterlife than IT IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT TO SEEK THE TRUTH AND HOW TO BE WITH "THE WINNERS" (people who go to heaven) and not BURN FOREVER IN HELL right? but if there isnt an afterlife do we just stop existing? da fuq? it sounds too scary for me to just stop existing and it really bothers me that people say "just live your life" or dont think too much of the future" because "the future" sounds way more important to me than the present or this "life" so im seeking the truth about life right now and (im gonna be hated for this) im really intrested in islam and how it explains what is life and what happens when we die in full and amazing detail so i dunno i mean..christianity is the most popular religion but islam is more logical and scientifically accurate and jewish doesnt seem right at all and everything else is bs in my opinion because i am SURE there is a god the world simply cant be an "accident" so what are your thoughys about this and PLEASE be neutral and dont hate other peoples opinions in the comments and thx :)

  • Go outside on clear night in a rural location. Look up.

Other than satalites and the planets in our solar system every light you see is potentially a sun with orbiting planets the could possibly contain life.

    Count the lights.

You are not that important and there is no Being looking out for and after you. It may make you feel good but use that brain to realize how insignificant you really are.

When you are dead, thats it. Enjoy this life cause thats all you get. Out of billions of years you may get 80-100 if you are extremely lucky. Start living them.

  • For one human being to seek enlightenment from another is like one grain of sand on the beach seeking enlightenment from another.

No one religion has all the answers. If your goal is truly to become more enlightened about this stuff, don't limit yourself by following one religion. That's like putting on a set of blinkers and refusing to see anything outside the narrow field of vision that religion occupies.

If you just want to *feel* reassured, and don't care whether you're actually getting anywhere, or actually "on the right side", then by all means close yourself and follow one religion. But that's not a good way to be.

Your best bet is to be open minded and take what you can from all these philosophies. Most likely, they are all mostly bullshit, but there is also a lot of good stuff in there too.

The whole existential question is huge, and it can be terrifying (I totally get that). But the worst response is to follow a single religion, imo. Because people just don't have the answers to this stuff - they never did. Making up a bunch of stuff isn't a satisfactory substitute for actual knowledge.

Tl;dr By all means explore religions, there's nothing wrong with that. Just don't limit yourself.

  • Religious texts were written thousands of years ago. It was not until the 20th century that medical technology developed defibrillators to restart a stopped heart. Since then, survivors say their soul slowly leaves their body and they move thru a tunnel that has a peaceful bright light at the end. There is nothing about this in ancient religious scriptures.

Don't buy into religious drama. An ethical, compassionate life is its own reward, especially when it is over. Eventually science shows us the truth.

    • but why are all the religions conected (ex: all three religions believe that moses was a massenger from god) it must.has started.with one religion for all and then shit got messed up and now religions sound stupid because there is a lot of them?

      • Those three are all fairly recent inventions in the history of religions, each from a small part of the middle east and each based on the previous as a rebellion against it.
There are much older and simpler religions than the Abrahamics.

        • well there were prophets before abraham

          • Yes. Lots.
None of them were actually prophets though. Neither was Abraham, Jesus, Moses, Mohammed or the lot of them!
All just blokes with ideas. Mortal like thee and me.
But you do agree there aren't just three religions?

  • Islam is not scientifically accurate lol. According to the Quran the sun sets in a pond of murky water. I could go on with stuff like that.
After you die, your brain decays and it's just like before you were born. No awareness at all.
You didn't experience the billions of years before your birth yet all of it still happened, right?
Think of death like a dreamless sleep or an alcoholic black out.

    • can you explain how life started in your opinion? and why are humans the only creatures that can think? are we supposted to end up like all the other animals? if yes why are we so different from them?

      • Humans aren't the only creatures that can think, pretty sure all of them do.

Opposable thumbs is what set us apart.

      • Too long to watch. I see you aren't interested in the truth but probably a muslim trying to proselytise. A muslim telling you how he justifies strange sounding verses to rationalise them seems to suffice to convince you so ok keep your belief lol.

      • Islam, or any other religion has no authority on science.
Science is a method of testing ideas, via hypothesis, experimentation and proof. None of the things in the Koran, Bible or Torah are really relevant to scientific study.

        Comment Hidden ( show )
  • I think that there something after life. Scientists have done experiments and Weighed someone at the exact moment of death. At that moment they were noticeably lighter. Conjecture on whether it's the spirit leaving the body

  • Those three Abrahamic religions are probably the worst three you could choose! If you want to dabble with religion as a right-minded human I recommend a go at a less uptight dogmatic one... Something ancient and simple like Daoism or polytheistic and fun-loving like the Hindus.
Mainly, never choose a religion which claims it's the only correct one, because that's patently fucking nonsense!
