Is this normal?
I had a teacher in the fifth grade who asked this question. I thought it was kinda dumb.
It sounds normal to me coz it can bring up some humor. Though it can sound immature at some point.
You remind me of a girl who when you said 'shit' she could run to where you are and say 'blanket'.
Yeah, I'm good with that! 😎
I think it would flow better if you would say something like, "tell me to shut up, I'll shut yo ass down"!
It would be a normal thing for a kid of five or so to say. Around that age, language skills have developed enough that kids notice how some common expressions don't make a lot of logical sense.
Someone saying this all the time would look stupid. If they had any sense, they'd be trying to figure out why people were telling them to shut up, and if the problem was those other people or themselves.
Imagine laughing at someone while implying that a generally accepted phrase is incorrect.
