Is it normal that i sometimes sound like a douchebag while realising it?

Sometimes when talking to someone I sound kinda arrogant because I have no idea how to talk normal. The weird thing about it that I know instantly after saying something that I should have said it in a different way.

You sound like you may talk like me, where your train of thought is constantly a few steps ahead of whatever you're saying while at the same time being preoccupied with trying to word things correctly, and the end result sounding like a weird, rude know-it-all. :/

You sound very self-conscious, like you're constantly monitoring what you say and trying to second guess how others take it.

If you feel you've come across badly, there's nothing stopping you from saying, "Sorry, that sounded like I _______ . What I meant was _______ ."

Or maybe you should listen more, and speak only when you're certain what you want to say? Most people are happy to prattle on if the person they're talking to is clearly listening to them, and all that takes is the occasional "Uh-huh", "Yeah?", or "You think so?"

I just read your post, and honestly arrogant isn't what comes to my mind. No offense, but the "talk normal" sounds awkward.

    • Yeah but here I have the opportunity to rewrite what I said which isnt the case at conversations.

I think I edited the question three times. :P
