Is it normal that i sometimes feel like i'm not real?

It's kind of hard to explain but sometimes I feel like I'm not real. I have moments where I feel like I'm watching myself on TV or imagining a character from a book. Basically I'm watching myself from a third person point of view but I know I'm inside the same body. This sensation only lasts for a few seconds then goes away.

    Valid points from Ta1t118.

However, I've never been a drug-user (I don't even drink much alcohol), and I've occasionally experienced the mild, momentary disassociation which you describe.

It's a peculiar feeling, but I don't think it's something you need to worry about if it comes and goes.

Do you or have you done alot of drugs in your past? Because I had exactly the same thing, feels like your watching your life through a tele. But dont panic, it will go, its a form of paranoia/anxiety. You need to lay off the drink, drugs (if you do them) and start to do regular exercise. I quit everything bad for me for 6 months, joined the gym and now I never get it! Hope this is helpful, you will overcome it so dont panic!

  • I had lots of feelings, especially when younger and less mentally busy, that I am part of an experiment. I started to understand astronomy and the Universe itself and I had a feeling that we are all part of a massive experiment, expanded and created from a point (Big Bang) so someone can do research on us and then we'll be terminated in a point again (Big Crunch). And while we're here, we're supervised and examined, to see what we're capable of, without intervention. I believe this is our world.
