Is it normal that i refer to my mom as mother?
I recently started referring to my mom as mother. The first time I did so, it was online in Facebook messenger. She asked me to put some water to boil before she arrived home. To her request, I replied, “Yes mother” and she replied, “okaaayyy.” Obviously, she felt quite strange about me referring to her in such a way. Although I did say it jokingly, I did mean it at the same time. Within the night of that same day, I said, “Goodnight mother.” To that statement, she jokingly replied, “Shut up and go to sleep.” I laughed and proceeded to go to sleep. A short time before I decided to post this, I had said goodnight to her (followed by the word mother once again). This time, she remained silent and went to sleep. Honestly, do you think it’s strange to refer to one’s own mom as mother? If it’s of any assistance at all, I am a 22-year-old female.
