    We don't have any say on what we're attracted to either. But we can choose whether or not we internalize their prescriptions regarding what we apparently should find attractive.

      Whatever their attraction is doesn't really matter. Everyone should be allowed what they want no matter what behaviours they've learned.

        I wouldn't go that far (if I've understood you correctly). What happens when there's a conflict of wants? X wants Y but Y doesn't want X. They can't both have their own way.

            So you're not arguing that everyone should be allowed what they want without the additional qualifying proviso that all participants' feelings should be respected.

              In my own relationship, of course... Why wouldn't I respect the one I love in a relationship? And it's as well known as a fact that not everything can be monitored and not everyone's actions can be watched. It's a big world where I don't feel like my opinion won't matter, so my mouth just keeps shut
