Is it normal that i mostly listen only to instrumental music?

More specifically, I listen to exotic electronica, ambient, smooth jazz, and related. I prefer music that paints a colorful soundscape in my mind. Popular music is so overdone and over marketed that I cannot listen to it. The lyrics also ruin the flow for me. Yet classic rock from 70s,80s and 90s is still delightful. Has music lost its soul? Or am I just spaced out?

in most pop music, the voices overpower the instrumentals, so I can see what you mean. I think you'll like Lindsey Stirling, though.

Its okay everybody has preferences. I like instrumentals too specially hans zimmer or violin. It makes a colourful background in my mind and its so peaceful to just daydream and drift away

Dude, music is all about what you find pleasing. If that's what you like, enjoy it :)

If that's what you like, then continue listening to it. Don't let others influence your music preferences. I can totally relate to this.
