Is it normal that i'm in a monogamous relationship...

... with my hot water bottle?

I feel like this winter's never going to end. 😔

I don't know, I'm frustrated that it's 24° Farenheit, and I haven't seen a good snow yet this winter in Delaware.

How does the hot water bottle thing work?

    • It's a prime example of old technology that WORKS. It's a flat, flexible rectangular bottle made of rubber, with a very sturdy screw cap. It normally has a removable woolly or plush insulating cover (you can get really cute ones). You boil water and pour it it into the bottle 'til it's about 2/3 full, push the air out gently, then screw the lid on tightly. Most manufacturers advise that you put a bit of cold water in too, but I don't. Turn it upside down and squeeze it a bit to check that it won't leak. Et voilà! Something lovely and warm and cuddly on a cold winter's night! Be careful not to buy the cheapest hot water bottle going, or else to check it has a safety standard label on it (for quality reasons), and don't let it come into contact with oil or anything else that could corrode or crack it.

Also, it goes without saying, but don't use it with an electric blanket.

Ha! Never knew that, thanks. It might be useful for an upcoming trip, but where I live it's generally in the 90s° F / 30ish° C

Now, quick question, is it enough to keep you warm? It sounds like it would only keep parts of you at a time covered!

        • If you put it under your bed covers, yes! 💛
I also just like to cuddle mine, as a supplement to the radiator. Or wrap a blanket round me and put it under the blanket.

You and me both, it was way too fucking cold today. Thanks for reminding me to fill mine up before bed.

I might be coming up there in a month or so. I just looked up the weather and realized I might need to learn that trick.

        Bring layers. Many layers.

Of course! I never travel without layers!!! How many do you think is enough? I usually do 3 to 4, depending on where I go. When I went there last the umbrella I had was kinda flimsy and it barely survived the winds!

You know of anything really worth doing late February/early March? --- Do you remember the band you mentioned that I liked a few weeks ago? Although I thanked you, I already forgot! :(

I'm still in doubt which weekend to spend there and which in Paris, which is where I'm flying in.

I might not even come over, there's a lot to do around the city of lights. But I loooove to catch good English theater plays!!

Do you mean The Skints? I think they’re touring the UK in Feb but it’s probably sold out by now.

I always recommend the Natural History and British museums, hours worth of interesting stuff in there.

Also 3-4 layers will probably be fine.
