Is it normal that i'm extremely afraid of getting lost

I'm afraid of getting lost to a kind of odd degree. I can't go anywhere new without making sure I know exactly how to get there and the exact layout of the place and I have to check it over and over just to make sure.I get anxious thinking about going to a place just down the street that I've walked to before, I try running through the route repeatedly in my head but it doesn't help. I couldn't go to a new high school because the layout of the building was so confusing, I had an anxiety attack just thinking about it.
I don't know why I'm so focussed on the possibility of getting lost, is there something wrong with me?

That sounds like an anxiety condition: if it's affecting your life more than you want it to, you need to seek professional help

Sometimes it's fun to get lost. You meet cool people and have new experiences

Not normal but it is normal to be in a new place and feel a little disorientated. Once you look around and get your bearings you should be fine. It's all a case of familiarity. You feel better in your own sorroundings because it's familiar. I got lost in a building once so simply asked for directions. :)

I'm exactly the same, it's very limiting, it makes me not try anywhere new. Plus I've been going on some job interviews lately and the most stressful thing about them is finding the place. Also train/bus routes are really hard to follow.
